Puree
The puree menu consists of individual puree meals that have a consistent smooth texture, free of particles to promote safe swallowing. In addition, there are thickened soups and puree desserts. The puree meals have been developed in conjunction with the research that is being completed at the University of Saskatchewan to ensure that the puree is both nutritious and safe. These meals are suitable for patients with chewing or swallowing difficulties and are similar in ingredients and nutritional value to the regular entrees.
Minced
The minced menu consists of entrees that have a finely chopped, consistent and moist texture that helps promote safe swallowing. These meals are suitable for most people with chewing difficulties and are similar in ingredients and nutritional value to the regular entrees.
Nutrition
It is well recognized that there are many in our society that are malnourished for a variety of reasons. This can lead to deteriorating health. Having a prepared nutritionally designed meal each day can help maintain wellness.
All meals have been developed based on recommended government nutrient levels. On average a meal consisting of a soup, entrée and dessert provides 40% of daily calorie requirements and 50% of daily protein requirements.
The meals have been designed carefully to promote overall good health. That’s why they have controlled levels of sodium and are not excessively high in fat. Our meals tend to have more calories, protein and vitamins than other commonly available meals.
Diabetes
All of the soups and entrees are suitable for a balanced diabetic diet. The desserts are separated in to regular and low sugar desserts. A complete nutritional analysis and ingredient list are available for all of the entrees. The nutrition and ingredient information can be accessed on our website. By clicking here.
