Reardon's Meats

History

In 1912, Irishmen Burt and Fred Reardon went into business together and opened up a butcher shop called Reardon’s. They moved around to several locations in Hamilton including a store on York Boulevard and the Hamilton Farmer’s Market. Sadly when Paul’s grandfather Fred died in 1944, Jack Reardon (Paul’s dad) stepped up to manage half of the business after returning from the war.

In 1970, the York Boulevard store was expropriated for the building of Jackson Square. At that time, they moved to their current location at 37 King William Street. In 1984, Jack’s son Paul took over the family’s business. Paul worked diligently in his new position that his grandfather Fred had started so many years before and one year later in 1985 instated the first hotdog cart in Hamilton.

In 1990, Reardon’s introduced a new addition to their family owned business. A deli counter was the new attraction at the King William Street location which also brought about the idea for Paul to introduce catering as another service Reardon’s offered to their valued customers.
In 2000, Reardon’s introduced a new item on their already popular and wide ranged menu called Jack’s Olde Style Corned Beef which was named after Paul’s dad. Two years later Reardon’s expanded their seating area to around to the back of the store to what it is today to accommodate their customers.
